Pre-funding call announcement

Open Call to IRC members 

• Call Opens 15 Jan 2024  
• Call Closes 27 Feb 2024 
• Total fund available: £400,000 

The IRC Open Call aims to establish a portfolio of research that provides robust and actionable insights to support a thriving innovation and research system.  

Under this call areas of interest, could include, but are not limited to:  

• AI and related science 
• International 
• System sustainability and resilience 
• Determining the constraints to UK economic growth 

Round 1 of the Open Call for the IRC Flexible Fund invites applications for small scale targeted projects, and larger scale pioneer projects.  

Targeted projects may seek funding up to £20,000 (100% fEC). We expect to fund up to 10 targeted projects that have a maximum duration of 6 months per project.   

Pioneer projects may seek funding for up to £50,000 (100% fEC). We expect to fund up to 4 pioneer projects that have a maximum duration of 12 months per project.   

The Principal Investigator must be a member of the IRC Network.   

Interested applicants are welcome to discuss potential research ideas with the IRC Co-Director’s.
